When Should You Book Your Newborn Photographer?


I recommend reserving your newborn session during your second trimester. You do not need to know exactly when your baby will arrive. I reserve your session using your estimated due date and keep room in my calendar for babies who arrive earlier or later than expected.

Once your baby is born, you’ll contact me so we can choose the exact session date. Booking ahead also gives us time to plan your colors, outfits, family portraits, and the soft, simple setup you would like for your baby.

Because I only accept a limited number of newborn sessions each month, booking during pregnancy gives you the best opportunity to reserve your place.

What Is the Best Age for Newborn Photos?


For the soft, gently posed newborn portraits I create, I recommend scheduling the session when your baby is between 7 and 18 days old. During these first weeks, newborns usually sleep for much of the day, although every baby’s feeding and sleeping patterns are different. This window often allows us to capture those tiny details and naturally curled poses associated with newborn photography.

However, your baby’s comfort always comes first. We take breaks whenever needed for feeding, changing, or cuddling, and I never force a pose that your baby does not enjoy. If your baby arrives early, needs additional care, or is already older than 18 days, please still reach out. We can adjust the session to what feels safe and comfortable for your family.

What if My Baby Arrives Early or Is Older?


Babies don’t always arrive according to their due dates, and that’s completely okay. If your baby arrives early or needs additional time before the session, we’ll choose a date based on how you and your baby are doing.

If your baby is already older than 18 days, please still reach out. We can create beautiful newborn portraits, but I may adjust the wrapping, poses, and session flow based on what feels comfortable for your baby. Every session follows the baby’s needs and is never rushed.

You don’t need to purchase outfits or bring props for your newborn session. My Zephyrhills studio has a variety of newborn wraps, outfits, bonnets, headbands, and safe props for you to choose from.

Before your session, we’ll talk about the colors and style you love. I’ll prepare everything ahead of time so you can arrive, relax, and enjoy this experience with your family.
